7A Scalar and vector quantities .Page-97
General idea on vector quantities : -
A vector quantities has both magnitude and direction .
For example :
Scalar : The distance from A to B is 100 metres
Vector : From A to B you go 100 meters north
Scalar : A ship is sailing at 12 km/h . ( Speed is a Scalar )
Vector : A ship is sailing at 12 km/h on a bearing of 0600. (This is called the velocity of the ship. Velocity is a vector)
